END DATE: settembre 2021
ABSTRACT:
The overall objective is to develop an operational service where marine data is made interoperable and readily available and to further develop data products based on sea observations, providing free and open access to these data products and observations upon which these data products were built.
The subject of the project work is the development, maintenance and dissemination of high-resolution digital maps of the European seabed, for the thematic group Lot 1 - Geology.
Sapienza research unit is mainly involved in “wp6 – submerged landscapes” where more than 10,000 features representing 26 classes of submerged landscape and palaeoenvironmental indicator ranging from mapped and modelled palaeocoastlines, evidence for submerged forests and peats, thickness of post-Last Glacial Maximum sediments and submerged freshwater springs have been collated.

ABSTRACT:
Participation through CONISMA, the inter-university national consortium for marine sciences - Sapienza research unit.
EMODnet Bathymetry is being developed in the framework of the European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet) as initiated by the European Commission. This is done in a series of EMODnet Bathymetry contracts, assigned by EASME since June 2009.  The main objective of EMODnet Bathymetry is to create and maintain an operational service providing free and open access to digital maps of the seabed topography and the coastline of European seas at the highest resolution possible and to the survey data underlying them.
In order to do so, the EMODnet Bathymetry provides open and free access to the bathymetry of the European seas by means of the EMODnet Digital Terrain Model (DTM) at a grid resolution of 1/16 arc minute × 1/16 arc minute), covering all the European seas, along with metadata of bathymetric surveys and pre-gridded products which are held by multiple organisations such as Hydrographic Offices, research organisations and private companies.

TITLE: GEO-ARCHAEO: Metodologie, strumenti e servizi innovativi per lo sviluppo del patrimonio culturale dei Geo-Archeo-Siti.

ABSTRACT:
The aim of GEO-ARCHAEO is to promote the scientific knowledge related to the geology and archaeology, to merge and represent it through the ICT, and to make it more “smart” through the sensory technology. The project intends to act on the very significant cultural heritage assets represented by the geo-archaeological sites (G.A.S.). New marketing strategies will be adopted for the dissemination and promotion of G.A.S. based on paradigms of technological intelligence. The G.A.S. need to be strengthened in their "evocative power", reformulating and reinventing the divulging methods based also on the Web and the Social Networks. The technology tools, composed of networks, cloud computing, open data, and distributed sensors, are the enabling factors for the construction of an intelligent "ecosystems", capable of coordinating a model of innovation and valorisation. GEO-ARCHAEO aims to valorise and govern G.A.S, with a particular attention to the environment, and exploit them for tourism purposes. GEO-ARCHAEO aims to design a set of ICT integration services capable of collecting data from various sources of information. To achieve this goal, a partnership including scientific expertise in the fields of geology, archaeology, engineering, biology and botany, economy together with business companies has been created. These companies are very interested in the production and use of commercially exploitable results. A computing platform will manage all the contents at the various information levels (e.g. orographic, bathymetric, geological, naturalistic, archaeological, urban, logistic, and business) that will converge in the creation of a virtual geo-archaeological "atlas".
