Short Curriculum Vitae

Daniele graduated in Geological Sciences at the Sapienza, University of Rome in 2005 and earned his Ph.D. in Earth Science at the University Alma Mater of Bologna in 2009. He worked as Post-doc in Marine Geology at the CNR-IGAG between 2009 and 2015, and as Research fellow (RTDA) at the Sapienza, University of Rome between 2015 and 2018. Since 2018, he is Researcher at  the CNR-IGAG, and he is presently tenure-track researcher (RTDB) at the Sapienza, University of Rome. He received the National Academic Qualification (ASN) as Associate and Full Professor SSD GEO/02 in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
The research activity is mostly focused on the morpho-bathymetric and seismo-stratigraphic analysis of continental margin and submarine flanks of insular volcanoes, with particular reference to the study of gravity instability processes and associated consequences. He has participated to 45 oceanographic cruises in Mediterranean Sea, North Sea, Alboran Sea, Atlantic Ocean, and Saguenay Fjord in Canada as well as to several national and international projects.

Research Topics

  1. Gravity Instability processes along continental margin and flanks of insular volcanoes
  2. Morpho-bathymetric monitoring of submarine flanks of active volcanoes
  3. Assessment of vertical movements in volcanic islands through the use of submarine markers of paleo sea-levels
  4. Hyperpycnal flows and upper-flow regime bedforms in marine environment
  5. Morpho-sedimentary study of shelf-incising canyon, with implications on the associated geohazard and transport into the deep sea of litter
  6. Morpho-sedimentary study of contourite and internal waves deposits
