ICP-AES laboratory
Service information
The ICP-AES (Inductively Coupled Plasma - Atomic Emission Spectrometry) spectrophotometry laboratory is an educational and research laboratory in which analyzes are carried out for the quantitative determination of the concentration of trace elements in samples of minerals, rocks, waters, atmospheric and industrial particulates, etc.
The laboratory offers services at a rate.

Instrumentation
The laboratory has an ICP-AES Vista MXP Rad spectrometer, produced by the VARIAN company, which determines the automatic correction of spectral interference between the emission lines of different elements and uses software capable of collecting all the data and procedures in a file, with the history and results of the analysis. The ICP-AES spectrometer allows simultaneous dosing of 73 elements including B, P and S, up to concentrations of ppb (parts per billion), with excellent performance in accuracy, reliability and repeatability.
Application fields
- Mineralogy - analysis of minor and trace elements in minerals
- Petrography - compositional analysis of magmatic, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks
- Cultural Heritage - chemical characterization of archaeological finds (stone, ceramics, mortars, glass, alteration products)
- Environmental analysis - chemical analysis of water
