PaleoFactory Laboratory

Service information

PaleoFactory is a laboratory of the Department of Earth Sciences of Sapienza that promotes the study of the organisms of the past and their evolution by coupling traditional methodologies with innovative tools and analytic procedures (computer graphic, CT-scanning, virtual environment).
PaleoFactory aims at a multidisciplinary and coordinated research approach, integrating naturally entwined fields such as geology, archaeology, ecology, and anthropology.
The activity of PaleoFactory thus develops along three main dimensions: research, university teaching, and communication of science to a non-specialist audience.
Therefore, in addition to the traditional role of university laboratory that hosts activities of students and researchers, PaleoFactory provides services and skills for external activities (design of museums and exhibitions, processing and management of databases, curation and cataloging of collections, mapping, development of 3D models and computer reconstructions of extinct organisms and environments, etc.).
It will be possible to follow the PaleoFactory projects and activities on the dedicated web page within the account of the Department of Earth Sciences, where information on the research team, products, and publications will also be available.
