Form of the Professor

Short curriculum Vitae

In 2016, I graduated (with honors) in Exploration Geology at Sapienza University of Rome. I obtained a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences in 2020 with a thesis titled "Structure and mechanics of carbonate-hosted fault zones: insights from lab, field, and virtual outcrop models." During my Ph.D., I spent a research period abroad at Durham University (UK). From June 2020 to December 2021, I held a post-doctoral research fellowship titled "Study of control factors for multi-scale structure of fault zones and mechanical implications." Since December 2021, I have been a fixed-term Researcher (RTDa) in Structural Geology (GEO/03) at Sapienza University of Rome. Between 2023 and 2024, I completed a 6-month internship at ENI (San Donato Milanese), where I worked on 3D seismic interpretation of a carbonate reservoir.

Training

  • 2014 Bachelor’s degree in Geology at Sapienza University, Rome.
  • 2016 Master’s degree in Exploration Geology at Sapienza University of Rome.
  • 2020 Ph.D. in Earth Sciences at Sapienza University of Rome.

Professional experience

  • 10/2018 – 12/2018. Visiting post-graduate researcher at Durham University, UK
  • 06/2020 – 12/2021. Post-doctoral researcher at Sapienza University of Rome.
  • 12/2022 – now. Researcher in Structural Geology at Sapienza University of Rome.
  • 02/2023 – 03/2024: 6-month non-continuous internship at ENI (San Donato Milanese) within the RTDa.

Research

Topics

  1. Structure and mechanics of fault zones;
  2. Fracture distribution in fault zones and on folds in analogue outcrops of carbonate reservoirs;
  3. Tectonics of the Central Apennines;
  4. Construction and interpretation techniques of virtual outcrop models;
  5. Digital techniques for geological-structural surveying.

My research activity focuses on studying brittle deformation at different scales, mainly from regional to outcrop scale, of carbonate reservoir analogues. For my studies, I combine classical geological survey techniques in the field with digital tools, such as virtual outcrop models.
